I don't recall ever seeing that anywhere, and agree that it sounds suspicious.  My suggestion is to ask your vendor to show you the guide/resource/whatever so you can see for yourself.  My bet is that they will, rather than show you documentation, ask what you would like done for your collection - to avoid answering the question.
