I agree with much that Larry Medina has to say on this topic. I believe that things like knowledge management and its ilk went away because they were largely marketing slogans developed by vendors and consultants seeking to move inventory.  These things rise and fall when the promises of the market do not match the results achieved by the corporation.  I think that given everything a compliance title is one less likely to fade away.
