I agree - yyyy mmm dd is best for sorting, and it's also logical and
unambiguous. A good system will of course store the date in some magical
internal format, and display whatever you choose, but if you're stuck with
things like Windows Explorer then yyyymmmdd at the end of each file name
provides an elementary level of version control.

At a more generic level, up here in Oz we mostly use dd mmm yyyy, and in
Windows and Linux if you set your location correctly it defaults to that.
dd mmm yyyy is also just as logical as yyyy mmm dd, in a roundabout sort of
way.

I understand that some other obscure parts of the world prefer the
completely illogical mm dd yyyy, the abiguities of which have played a part
in several short stories and at least one film, with broken international
romances attributed to one party arriving for an assignation in the wrong
month.

have a great yyyy mmm dd!

These views are mine alone. They may or may not be those of any
previous or present employers or clients. I don't know. If I'd asked and
they'd agreed, I would have signed it "Harry Peck and Co and Glenn".
Or whatever. But I haven't, so I didn't.
