Hi Ellen,
I use a rather simplified log of our legal hold orders that I post to our Records Management SharePoint site. The log includes hold order number; matter name; issuing attorney name; issue date; last modified date, and release (closed) date. It is posted both alphabetically (by matter name), open/closed status; and numerically (by hold order number). I am currently using an MS Access database to keep track of all this. We've also developed a short, simple hold order training program that all new hold order recipients must take. We monitor compliance with that training via PolicyTech, and everyone is required to re-take this training every 3 years.
I suspect that our attorneys may keep a more detailed log internally, but I've not seen it and have no idea what other info it contains.
Thanks, and I hope this helps.
Earl
