Washington, DC…Archivist of the United States David S. Ferriero announced
today the appointment of Laurence Brewer as the new Chief Records Officer
for the U.S. Government, effective May 1, 2016.

In this position, Brewer will work directly with agencies to improve
records management across the federal government and promote the goals of
the *Managing Government Records Directive* (M-12-18).

“Laurence’s experience in records management and commitment to open
government will serve him well in administering the responsibilities of the
Chief Records Officer position,” Ferriero said in making the announcement.
