Principle of Accountability
<A senior executive (or a person of comparable authority) shall oversee the information governance program and delegate responsibility for records and information management to appropriate individuals. The organization adopts policies and procedures to guide personnel and ensure that the program can be audited.>
The term information governance program as used here we have interpreted to mean the Records Management Program, and not an IG function per se. I don't believe GARP (or The principles as they are now called) is specific to IG/IT. The program can have ANY executive "sponsor." Although we are physically located under IT, our "sponsor" is the Waterworks Dept. Director.
