Welcome!

There are successful case studies for each scenario that you listed below. Without additional information and opinion can only be given. I recommend that you assess the following and you will come to the best conclusion for your agency:

  * What is the agency's RIM maturity level?
  * What is the organization's culture and readiness for change?
  * Do you have executive sponsorship (of your program/initiative/project)?
  * Have you completed technical requirements gathering from all business functions? What do those results tell you?
  * What is the budget associated with the project/initiative?
  * What internal resources (with appropriate skill sets and training) are available for the project/initiative? Will you need to engage outside assistance?
  * What resources (with appropriate skill sets and training) are or will be available to run and maintain the solution?
  * What does success look like? In other words, if you could fast forward what would the resulting solution accomplish and how would the agency be better off?

Todd

Subject: Question / Comparison - O365 vs. ECM vs. Both

Hi All,

I am new to the listserv and honestly do not know how to go back and search/research topics so if this is a duplicate or redundant topic I apologize in advance.

The question I am pondering is whether or not to go with one standalone system to manage all our content. As many other companies we are deploying O365 which will give us OneDrive and SharePoint similar to our shared drive environment. My premise of thought is to use an ECM solution to manage all our content as a standalone system, however with this school of thought we will essentially have deployed two content management systems and not necessarily having the two systems talking to each other.

Here are our options, which do you believe is the best route?

Option 1 - Go with O365 as standalone system Option 2 - Go with ECM solution as standalone system Option 3 - Go with hybrid of both O365 and ECM solution together

Your feedback is welcomed.

Sincerely,

Tim O'Toole, CRA
