It is good that we now have an ISO standard to refer to, but Alicia's
question (and mine) is where can we find tools to produce PDF/A? Have any
vendors stepped forward with support for PDF/A? I would like to use the
standard, but the absence of tools is a barrier.

Thanks

The standard is available from the ANSI online store
(http://webstore.ansi.org/ansidocstore/default.asp? )

ISO 19005-1:2005 Document management - Electronic document file format for
long-term preservation - Part 1: Use of PDF 1.4 (PDF/A-1)

Is PDF/a available for use, yet? I Googled this and everything I've found
indicates that it is not yet in use. Has anyone heard anything to the
contrary, or any information indicating when it will be available?

Thanks in advance,
