Dear Listserv members
I am trying to understand how other organizations are managing their
electronic records and what the "tipping point" is for purchasing a
technology solution. I would very much appreciate feedback on the following
questions and would be happy to compile a report for all who are interested.
1. Does your organization use a records management software or technology
specifically to manage the electronic records? If yes, what are you using
and why did you select this technology? E.g. what are its capabilities
2. What kind of effort has been made to train employees on the retention
and disposition of records using this system?
3. What does a new employee find out about record keeping when he/she
starts at your organization?
4. Does everyone who creates electronic files have a responsibility to
manage their electronic records?
5. If you are using a manual process (policy, procedures and guidance) with
no electronic records management software, how do you audit the integrity
of individual record keeping efforts?
6. Does anyone have a method for managing all formats of records including
paper, other media, electronic documents, email etc?
7. What concerns you most about the management of electronic records?
