Maybe I am adding to the confusion, but has there been any development in capturing cell phone text messages. How would/should this be retained? Is this considered a record? If not, why not?

Subject: 2 originals?

We recently implemented a telephone messaging system that permits the
recipient to transmit voicemail messages to Microsoft Outlook. The
email is received as a wav file in Outlook. The email is created
simultaneously with the telephone record. Given the message generated is
declared as an official record . . . is the wav file or the phone system
message the original record? Has the recipient created 2 originals?

I greatly appreciate any advise from listserve members!

B. regards,

Michael Levey
