Stephanie -

My company is currently undergoing this process. This was a joint project between the Records Center & departments from both companies. Most boxes were identified as containing records which only pertained to either entity and were either kept or transferred to the new company. Boxes which contained records pertinent to both entities were decided by departmental personnel as to which company they should go with. However, a reach back agreement has been decided on - either company can request the records at a later date if necessary.

Subject: [RM] Handling archived records when company has merged or spun off

Does anyone have experience with the handling of archived records when a
company has spun off? Did company identify and take all boxes of
records with them, enter into separation agreement to have access when needed?
Help, please.
