I put together a brief presentation for our Records Coordinators last
month. My intent was not to discuss the specific laws - although I had
summarized versions of each amendment. I showed the summarized versions and
then discussed what that meant from a Records Management point of view. As
I walked through each amendment it was clear that the best way to be
prepared is to "know what eRecords we have, where the eRecords are located,
how to access the eRecords, and how to efficiently produce the eRecords when
needed". Gee that sounds suspiciously like . . . ??????? Yes, that's it -
Records Management.

I've been forwarding messages about seminars to our legal department. Now
our legal department is having our external attorneys give a presentation to
selected employees next week. Yes, I was invited as well as some of the IT
folks.

I guess we're finally beginning to realize that "a record is a record is a
record" regardless of the media.
Thanks Mary
