The workshop is being offered twice:  October 19-20, 2006 and December 7-8, 2006.  Register by October 6th for the October program, or November 23rd for the December program. WORKSHOP INFORMATION

Purpose of the workshop: 

To familiarize participants with the benefits and outcomes of using an evaluation framework to enhance RIM program performance and advancement.

Objectives:


- To develop a fundamental understanding of program evaluation concepts, principles, and tools used in evaluation.
- To be learn about the components of an evaluation framework and how they can be used in the development of RIM programs. 
- To understand how program evaluation can be used to measure and enhance RIM programs.
- To become prepare participants for future specialized evaluation training (e.g., developing and using logic models, assessment methods).

Why have we chosen this file of study for training RIM professionals?

Halifax Chapter RIM community of practitioners would benefit from using evaluation knowledge and skills support and enhance the development and advancement of quality RIM programs. The goals of a successful RIM program is to support organizational accountability and to protect the rights and obligations of our stakeholders, program evaluation skills will provide tools and approaches which in turn assist us in achieving
these goals and provide leverage for organizations to develop and advance their RIM programs.

Since the establishment and publication of the ISO 15489, Information and Documentation - Records Management, program various tools based on program evaluation methods and models have been developed and used for measuring RIM programs. ARMA International have partnered the development of applications such as Risk Profiler Self-Assessment for Records and Information Management and eDiscovery based on the ISO standard. In addition, government of Nova Scotia used the same standard to develop a "Joint Program Assessment" tool to measure RM programs in provincial government departments and compliance with the government-wide Records Management Policy. The Federal government also developed an "Information Management Capacity" tool for assessing how the federal government departments manage records and information. Evaluation knowledge and skills gained through this workshop will support an evaluation culture and enhance the development of our RIM programs.
