Bob,
The competency project is a truly ambitious undertaking..... To learn that it may be taking a bit longer than many of us would like should not be surprising. From all that I know of it (viewing it from a distance), I have no doubt that (1) it will be completed, (2) that it will advance the profession, and (3) that we will need to revisit our competencies over time.
As to Chris Flynn's note, the competencies project is designed to aide individuals who are part of our profession, not to address the overall association's "competence". As for whether ARMA is competent..... Yes. ARMA is competent. We are a member-owned and member-directed organization with an active and very competent staff. Is ARMA perfect? No, it isn't, and it isn't likely that it will be so long as humans are involved..... If you have a concern or interest in improving ARMA.....don't hesitate to (continue to) volunteer.

"ARMA is still working on the competency project"
The project is starting to remind me of the "paperless office". Perhaps we
need a Blarney Stone around to kiss and wish it to the finish line.

I don't know, when the project is completed, and implemented, do you suppose
that finally ARMA will be "competent"? Or is the goal merely to describe
what conpetent should look like?
