Steve,

But you really think that this 2 1/2 year old story deserved a 1 hour
special report on Prime Time?
Also look at the vast difference between the reports written in 2004 by
Fox News and the reports written now.
And difference in the content of the reports are not the Facts. The
difference in the reports is the spin Fox News is applying to same
information given.
The other News Network reported on the story back in 2004 when there was
actually something to report.
The plea bargain was done back in 2005.

First off all he had access to where copies so he could have not
destroyed original records.
Secondly he got in trouble because he took notes of the documents and
put them in his pocket.
Third the claim that he was observed putting documents into his socks
was done by the media (CNN) and never followed up with any proof. No
witness was found today backing up the claim of the socks.

The Media frenzy happened, but they just discovered that there was not
much to get out of this story. Actually you will find more news stories
being done by CNN regarding the Sandy Berger Records Theft than by Fox
News back in 2004.

For your own review, look at the story from Fox News on July 20 2004
"Sandy Berger Probed Over Terror Memos". They actually quote in the
story the following phrase :"I think it's more innocent than it looks"
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,126249,00.html

And then look at the recent spin "FOX News Special Report 'Socks,
Scissors, Paper: The Sandy Berger Caper' Questions Probe of Theft at the
National Archives"
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,262687,00.html

And this all the time I will spent on this old story that just got a new
spin.

An ex cabinet-level federal official stealing documents and smuggling
them out in his jacket and socks; hiding some of them under a
construction trailer in the area..., it is newsworthy and scandalous.
It smacks of and smells like Watergate. Hopefully it is just more
sophomoric actions indicitive of his time in office.

By the way, Fox reports on all the other national and international
news as well.

Best regards, Steve

1st I agree that a report on Records Theft is very appropriate post
for
this Listserv. But I also share Charles disappointment that Fox News
decided to do a hour special on this issue. <snip>
