Hi Joy,

In my former role as records analyst at Canadian Tire Financial Services
I did not assign a retention period to departmental meeting minutes or
assign them to the series for Board meeting minutes. Departmental
meeting minutes do not have any criteria for retaining for regulatory or
statutory reasons. Board meeting minutes obviously yes.

One caveat though, as with any other record, if for some reason they may
be required as evidence in litigation then Records Hold processes should
be applied. Other then that we treated them as transitory and it was the
business owner (record owner) who made decisions around retention. (of
course that meant they were probably retained forever... but that's
another story/aggravation!)

Hope that is helpful,
cheers

Kirsten
