Welcome Joan.
I would say if anything should be made available electronically, this
should be it.
Although our minute books are not yet available on line, we have scanned
these for numerous reasons:
From a risk standpoint, I always worried that there was no backup in the
event of a disaster at our office and they were lost or destroyed.
These are listed as permanent. Our policy states that all permanent
records will be scanned to our ECM.
The scanning of these important records enables us to OCR the minutes and
make them full text searchable.
It is our desire to have these accessible via the web, but security
measures have not been worked out yet to our satisfaction.
Hope this helps....

[RM] Greetings and a minute book question
First,let me introduce myself.
I am currently at a property management company in Winnipeg Manitoba,
which
is experiencing growth, so they created my position to run their file
room.
I've been here just over 6 months. I spent 3 years as a file clerk in the
provincial justice department, and a month at the provincial archives. I'm
taking my first RM course in September at U of Manitoba, Continuing Ed,
set
up in collaboration with ARMA Winnipeg, although I'm not yet a member.
Whewf - enough about me.
Is there current wisom about having Minute Books stored electronically?
Our hard copies are up to date, but we are wondering if anyone else keeps
their books online? We have Books for 100+ different corporate entities,
some going back 30+ years. Would this project be more trouble than it's
worth?

/>Thanks for your help. I love this knowledge sharing!
