Electronic Records Archivist

 

$3,193 - $3,375/mo

General Responsibilities:

This is a specialized, professional position evaluating the
administrative, legal, historical, and fiscal value of electronic
records generated by state and local government entities.  The
individual manages all aspects of electronic technology in the Archives:

*	Plans, directs, organizes, supervises, and evaluates
professional archival work centered on the creation, description,
preservation, and access of electronic records in state and local
government agencies;
*	Liaises with staff archivists, field archivists, and records
analysts concerning appraisal/descriptive work and standards;
*	Serves as contact with Information Technology;
*	Maintains automated inventory system;
*	Advises on projects relating to electronic records retention and
disposal;
*	Provides access to electronic and digital records.
*	Will assist with the development and rollout of the Missouri
Digital Heritage Initiative.

 

KNOWLEDGE, Skills, AND ABILITIES:

*                     Understanding of archival systems, hardware and
software used for electronic imaging systems, document managing systems,
and personal computers;

*                     Knowledge of metadata standards;

*                     Capable of creating and maintaining database
systems;

*                     Ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions from associates, state and local government
entities, and the public, regarding electronic technology, both orally
and in writing;

*                     Expertise in collecting and analyzing statistics.

 

Qualifications:

Masters degree in Library Science, Computer Science, a related field, or
an equivalent combination of education and experience from which
comparable knowledge and experience could be acquired.  Demonstrated
experience in a technology support environment in an archives or
manuscripts repository.  Willingness to become knowledgeable in archival
and records management theory, principles, methods, materials, and
practices, if not already so.
