Is there anyone who is a records manager (in the private sector, ideally)
in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands or Switzerland who speaks the
applicable language and who is happy to discuss with me interpretations of
some records retention requirements?

My problem is that these are countries with civil law, a legal system with
which I'm not familar - and the language. One example is in Germany where
there is a general requirement to keep a wide range of business records for
6 and 10 years, in some articles I've seen this includes contracts. As
regards contracts, the limitation period for legal action for contracts in
Germany is only 3 years. It's also not clear to me what groups of records
fit under 6 and which under 10 years

Regards,

Rod
