did a search in google using the following terms

diskettes disposal "environmentally friendly"
and got these results

What you want to do is make sure that the data on the diskettes can no
longer be read. That can be done either of two ways, total destruction
(shredding, etc) or magnetically wiping them
and I'm sure SteveW will suggest something such as using them for target
practice ;-)
