More "Tales from the Cloud Crypt"

Well, seeing the opportunity to engage in something else that has gained in
popularity that they don't yet know how they will handle, Micr$oft has
announced it's entry into the stormpath:

But, like all other M$ offerings, it comes with a consumer warning label...
the difference here is the label is being applied to the product before it's
on the shelf.

And as this writer notes, M$ seldom gains early acceptance, especially when
they try copying what others are successfully doing already (can you say
$harepoint?)

'With similar offerings from Amazon (Amazon Web Services) or Google (Google
App Engine) and other companies already operating in the market
successfully, maybe the term cloud operating system was needed to somehow
differentiate Microsoft’s offering and for the software giant not to look
like they simply enter the crowded market where others already innovate.'

Apropos that this comes out on a seriously overcast day in the SF Bay Area,
with projections of rain for the coming 3 days, including Halloween and Our
Marching Band's fist competition.

(the concept don't rain on our parade comes to mind)
