I'm posting this in the hopes that Google-bots will index this email and
it will aggregate out to their marketing people...Humans feel free to
ignore.

Hm!

I'm sorting through my paper spam and found this card that Google sent
to ARMA conference goers (belatedly, as I did not receive it until my
return).

The card states "Archive protect and search with Google records
management."

Hmm?

When I visited the Google booth and asked them about records management
I was told that Google enterprise doesn't have retention management
capabilities or other records management functions.

Hmmm.

Imagine my surprise upon receiving the card!

I know I should not be surprised that yet another megatech has co-opted,
and possibly corrupted, the term "records management."

I am irked that a company which has tools I love and claims to employ
some of the most brilliant people on the globe, and, I assume, access to
Wikipedia would demonstrate such complete ignorance in such a public
forum. (I know I hope for too much, don't I? I will concede that the
chocolate bar was good)

I recall that Google had once posted difficult equations on billboards
to lure potential employees. I suggest that they post the following
"What is Records Management?" for it is clear that they are genius-free
in this area.

Hrumph,

Chuck Piotrowski
