Nice article Dave. I used to do tech service for a Nabisco box board plant
in Illinois. The fibers that are too short to make decent paper are
sandwiched in between high fiber layers. You can see this when you tear
"chipboard" boxes as well as the clay surface used for printing.
I found an interesting website that provides a simple but useful
illustration of the steps that are involved in recycling. To understand the
cost of performing these tasks you would need to cost these out either as a
group or individually based on fixed and variable costs.
