Hi,

I'm so glad you brought this topic up!
This is the elephant in the living room topic at the University. In my 6
months here, people think I have grown 2 heads when I discuss email
retention policies.

Conceptual, most people understand and agree that we need to organize our
emails and discriminate on what to retain.

To answer your questions:

1) No formal classification - we use MS Outlook and IT has recommended
saving emails in Outlook folders.
a) No purging

b) Rely on the individual (ughhh!)

2) No email archive for email - back up tapes

3) Technically - 50GB.......realistically - unlimited

4) Daily backups - kept 30 days

Hope that helps!
