As soon as I can find it I'll post it but there is a software company in
Houston that several years ago that created a program that reassembled strip
cut documents. The strips were scanned in and the program reassembled them.
The technology was used in a legal case in Canada. Story was posted in RAIN.
The company has improved the technology such that they can reassemble
cross-cut shredded documents.

No word as to whether they can reassemble ashes or smoke.....yet.
