I've read this article 3 times now (and I think I can verify each reading
was of the authentic digital content) but I still don't see where this is
anything different than what already exists technologically.
Adding a "digital hash mark" allows someone to validate/verify the content
has remained unchanged but nowhere does it explain how this prevents against
obsolescence of formats, avoids media that is no longer supported or becomes
damaged or deteriorates, technology changing over the course or 20, 50, or
more years that invalidates the ability to access the content, etc.
Sure you can prove that 'it is what it was' and 'it is what it says it is',
but you STILL won't be able to see it, hear it, read it or otherwise access it.
Am I missing something here?
