Allen Weinstein is a soft-spoken man of many professions. He is a professor, a democracy advocate and an archivist. But above all else, Weinstein considers himself a historian.

Weinstein, 71, comes to the College of Information Studies as a visiting professor after dedicating his life to helping developing nations establish democratic foundations, while keeping a keen interest in how history can shape the world's events.
