Of course, if you're at home. I believe I wrote, "Your employer's
property." Think reasonably and rationally, come on.

The restroom comment was pretty over the top and sarcastic, don't you
think? You're getting a bit carried away.

But, doesn't the company have a right to protect their intellectual
property? How could they do that otherwise? Society has changed so much
that you can be so trusting anymore. Isn't that a sad state of affairs?
Like it or not, that's what has happened.

In regards to your example, couldn't your wife call you on your cell
phone or leave a quick message there's an emergency and you need to call
home?

Where did I say I was law making?

Not all cases are black & white and there are always exceptions. We
can't address every minute point here. It was an "in general" king of
statement.

Steve,

What about people who work from home? Does the employee have the right
to
privacy in their own home?

What about when I visit the restroom at work, or eat in the lunch room
should I expect privacy there? As strange as it might seem I have taken
work
related calls whilst eating, and I have taken then sitting on the
toilet. In
many cases this is expected by the employer.

You have to remember that not all of us sit in a cubicle 5-9, and you
have
to allow for everyone in your law making.

If I am at work and my wife rings me to tell me she has miscarried
should my
employer have the right to know that? Employers can't have it both ways,
they can't expect you to revolve your life around the company and then
expect to be part of every detail of your life.

Gerard
