Julie,

Thanks for the words. With that said, this is the answer I received
from IM when I questioned them about their increase:

"Our cost of labor for services for services continues to increase. We
strive to gain as much efficiency as possible in our record centers to
manage our costs, but there is a minimum cost we have when processing
orders. In the past years you have met the minimum standards. I will
work with you to determine if we can combine orders more efficiently,
which would reduce the frequency of minimum charges. I'm sorry but, the
minimum service charge will not be lower."

How do you like that? I'm sorry, but the minimum will not be lower.
Bull! I "cannot" combine orders because I cannot make an attorney wait
for other attorneys to order boxes. Not gonna happen.

This is the answer for their admin fee:

"The administrative fee is not related to the minimum service charge. We
have implemented the Administrative fee because we've been investing in
our customer accounts for years through the administration, information
tracking and tools that support each account. We were at a point in our
organization where we could no longer fully absorb those costs for our
customers. Some of the administrative services included are."

Call Center Availability with 24/7 live coverage
Historical and Transactional Data that is stored indefinitely providing
compliance security;
Iron Mountain Connect(tm) our web based portal that allows you to
schedule services, order supplies and generate reports at your
convenience".

... With the admin fee they are charging "all of the clients", they
could probably open a call center in every country.

In closing they say.... "Our costs to do business have increased and we
must pass those some of those costs to you."

Right, by 600%! Sorry guys, I'm trying to be professional but I can't
over this one. If I'm going to pay $12 to retrieve a box, I'm better
off paying less than 1/2 of that to permanently remove and send it to
another vendor. Hello.. Here's your sign!

Have a wonderful w/e. Is it 5:00 p.m. somewhere? Let's have a shot of
something! :) Scott

Thank you,

Julie Fischer

Answer is, usually, unfortunately yes. And yes, in effect, we are
captive to their whims. I am one of the potential/attempted victims of
such whimsical business practices right now too. I feel Scott's pain.

And in re: Mr. Komarkowski's comments earlier: yep, they too were hit on
the head by the economy (however, understand they are no GM or
Chrysler). However, in the letter they sent to me (mid-contract),
insisting they raise my shred fees by 20%, they didn't indicate any
attempts to avoid passing costs off to customers (like "we've tightened
our belts", "we've maximized internal efficiencies", etc.). Instead,
verbatim, it says "Additionally, we are investing in tools, programs and
technology ..." ... I beg to differ, *I* am apparently (and unwillingly)
investing in IM's acquisition of new tools, programs and technology.

I am wholly disappointed.

Julie
