laura brings up an excellent point. Even though records management maybe
your primary focus, contract management is also important. If you are
storing your records with a CRC then you are managing the contract. You need
to familiarize yourself with all the T&Cs, if your contract says that things
can be changed based upon 30 days notice make sure that you pull the trigger
first. I worked for a company years ago that actively managed their
contracts. We were storing with a certain underground CRC and had been for
over 30 years. Each year our contract group sent out a letter well in
advance of the contract renewal date. This letter said that we were keeping
the old pricing. Finally one year the vendor beat us to the punch. My
contract group started to whine, but I pointed out that for almost 30 years
we had invoked the same clause in the contract our advantage.

so my point is identify the key points in your contract, learn about the
renewal clauses
