Subject: [RM] Any video game records managers out there?

Hi all,

As part of my master's studies and my involvement with the Library of
Congress funded Preserving Virtual Worlds project, I'm conducting a survey
of the video game world to gather information about the records management
and preservation activities of the industry and player community. Are
there any video game records managers out there? Do you know anyone who
works with a video game company, large or small?

The results of this survey will benefit everyone involved in the gaming
community by providing an increased understanding of methods currently
used to preserve culturally important software; starting point for
scholars to explore the technical history of video games; a starting point
for archivists to develop a documentation strategy for the video game
industry; and a look into the ways amateur and professional
preservationist activities intersect and deviate, complement and
contradict one another.

This is a research project being conducted by Rachel Donahue, under the
supervision of Dr. Kari Kraus at the University of Maryland, College Park
and in conjunction with the Library of Congress sponsored Preserving
Virtual Worlds Project.

The industry survey is targeted towards people involved in records
management and preservation activities within their company, if such a
person exists. The community survey is targeted towards people who have
taken an active role in preservation efforts there, whether that's
providing metadata or working on an emulation project.

Thanks! And please excuse the cross-postings.
