I agree with Sharon.  This is something to be worked out involving the GC 
and the CIO.  I have found most GCs where I have either work, or assisted as 
a consultant to be very interested in getting these issues squared away.

You know you can only do so much. But if it were me I would have a friendly 
chat with your general counsel to get their take on your issue. Do the same 
with an IT manager - someone who is high enough to help.
