Glenn...very good response and some of it mirrors what we as an
organization are doing.
I believe the essence of these responsibilities is to look upon this as an
opportunity to further advance your RIM program. It's like looking at a
glass half full or half empty. Further to some of the areas you suggest,
I manage all copiers within our organization. Each machine is now a multi
function machine (MFP) which means they handle faxing, printing, scanning
and copying. Our scanning function allows users to store documents
directly into our EDRMS or scan to e-mail. Anytime we can get rid of
paper, it is good.
Because we have the mail room function, we can encourage individuals to
ask for e-copies of invoices, lettter, reports etc. which allows for easy
transfer to our EDRMS. Soon to be implemented, paper Invoices will be
scanned and stored electronically. We now have a fax server which keeps
the faxes electronically and allows them to be stored that way. Again,
because I manage that area, I was able to change the processes.
So.... some days it seems to be a pain in the neck, but use your RIM
ingenuity and look upon it as an opportunity and not a task.
Take care.
