About our Program:
Morning Session
"Organizational Security and Compliance"
Profile of the way criminals steal proprietary information/trade secrets
from organizations, the steps organizations can take to
protect the strategic information (hardcopy and digital) that they
control and any compliance requirements.

Afternoon Session
"Mock Trial"
This session explores a wide array of electronic information and records
issues. Recent courts' decisions dealing with e-mail,
destruction of evidence, security precautions, development of record
policies and procedures, imaged records and disposition of
originals, etc. Practical solutions to complex records risk and legal
issues will be addressed. This session goes beyond Records
Management basics to take the attendee through a comprehensive overview
of the latest issues in the field including electronic
records management, e-mail issues, and attorney-client privilege in the
digital age.

About our Speakers

John Isaza, Esq.
John Isaza, Esq. is a California-based attorney and partner of Howett
Isaza Law Group, LLP, an international records and
information management (RIM) consulting practice and law firm. Mr. Isaza
is widely recognized as one of the country's foremost experts
on electronic discovery, the revised Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
and other RIM issues. Mr. Isaza attended Boston College
Law School, where he served as Editor of the International Law Review.
At present, he is an active speaker in the ARMA and AIIM
circuits, and he has authored numerous articles on electronic discovery
and information management. Mr. Isaza chaired the Chicago
Program Committee for ARMA's 2005 international conference; he is a
member of ARMA's Electronic Discovery Advisory Group; and, he is
past President of the Greater Los Angeles ARMA Chapter. Mr. Isaza is
fluent in Spanish, French and proficient in German. In his spare
time, Mr. Isaza is co-authoring a book tentatively entitled "Seven Steps
for Implementing Legal Holds," scheduled for release in early
2009 and based in part on his critically acclaimed 2004 and 2007
spoliation and legal hold studies for the ARMA Educational
Foundation. John is the 2008 recipient of the prestigious Britt Literary
Award of ARMA International.

Timothy M. Howett, Esq.
Tim Howett is a California-based lawyer and principal of Howett Isaza
Law Group LLP. He is an accomplished trial lawyer, having
tried a number of court and jury trials to verdict. He is "AV" Rated by
Martindale-Hubbell, the preeminent national peer review lawyer
rating service. His practice emphasizes complex commercial,
construction, insurance and real estate litigation, primarily on
behalf of business and property owners, design professionals and
contractors. His substantial jury verdicts have earned him
membership in the nationwide "Million Dollar Advocates" Forum. Mr.
Howett studied comparative government and political philosophy at
the London School of Economics and interned in the House of Commons in
London, England. He earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los
Angeles, California, in 1988, and his Bachelor's degree from the
Claremont-McKenna College in 1985. He is a noted author and speaker.

Raymond Smith
Raymond Smith, Vice President of Investigative Services at Sony Pictures
Entertainment, has significant and varied experience in
both the public and private sectors. After spending 20 years in local
law enforcement, he has spent the last 9 years in the
corporate sector. Mr. Smith holds a Master of Arts degree in
Organizational Management/Business (MAOM) as well as a B.A.,
Administration of Criminal Justice and Government Examiners (ACFE).  He
was a charter participant in the initiation, development,
writing, and passing of legislation (AB 1734) to develop and fund High
Tech Crime Task Forces within California.

Smith, Certified in Computer Forensics, designed, implemented, and
managed Computer Forensics Laboratories at 3Com Corp and currently
at Sony Pictures. In addition to investigations, the lab supports Mr.
Smith in litigation support responsibilities with regards to
Electronic Discovery. In response to changes in the Federal Rules of
Civil Procedure, he has lead the charge, in partnership with the
Legal Department to leverage the forensic resources of the lab to
develop significant internal capabilities to preserve, collect,
search, and produce discovery requests at significant savings to the
company.
