You may also want to check the UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) This is one
place where the plans of commercial buildings need to be kept for the life
of the building. Some states have formally adopted the code as part of their
statutes. To whom this rule applies may be open to interpretation.
For background and status of the UCC as law go to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_Commercial_Code
Also, if your organization participates in ISO 9000 or other compliance
program for certification, you may want to check the requirements that are
currently in place there. I think extra certification points are awarded if
the plans are kept permanently by the organization applying.
