If you're using Microsoft Office and already have the information in Excel
you could import it directly into MS Access. I've used it successfully to
manage active and inactive (off-site storage) records. Your IT support may
already have someone on board who could assist in setting up the system and
supporting it.

Subject: [RM] Software to manage record scheduling information

Hello,
We have been looking at our options for managing the record series level
information contained in our record retention schedules as well as to
track the record transfers we make to an offsite storage facility. We
have no plans at the moment to introduce an electronic records
management system to our organization so what we basically need is an
inexpensive alternative to recording this information in Excel
spreadsheets as we do now. We are hoping to avoid having to create our
own database if possible. I have spoken to some of my colleagues and it
appears that others in a similar situation still rely on spreadsheets to
manage this information.

I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who could suggest an
inexpensive and quick to implement alternative if one exists.
Thanks

Annemarie
