Assembly Bill No. 5, Civil Discovery: Electronic Discovery Act, was passed and sent to the Governor to sign on June 18th.  It was passed with no opposition and is an urgency measure so it becomes law immediately upon signature.  The Governor has 30 days to decide whether to sign or veto.  This will bring many of the aspects of the FRCP to our state level.
Check it out at leginfo.ca.gov and feel free to write the Governor and urge him to sign it this time.  He vetoed it in the fall, not on the merits of the bill but because of the budget crisis.
