I've again been asked to do a benchmarking exercise on best practice for
retention of calendar entries in companies e mail systems. I posed this
question last June and don't see much response in the archives. I know
the answer is - IT DEPENDS and the discussions have been held as to
whether they're considered records and whether they should be part of the
retention schedule BUT would like some - we keep it XX period of time and
this is why responses.
Some background - Government contractor, Defense/Aerospace oriented, Lotus
Notes based and we have a process in place for categorizing e mail
messages into 3 major type categories ( no value, short term Business
value, company record/litigation hold). This process doesn't include all
the little message types on the edge such as drafts,follow-ups, calendar
entries,journaling, etc.
