I have used SD cards for storage on occasion and moved documents from a
laptop to my camera and back to another device when I was in the field.
I have stored documents but only for transport. I scanned a group of
documents and put them to an SD card using a USB reader that I always
carry with me. Should we store documents on SD cards for any length of
time?

When I found people in North Korea actually storing photos it never
occurred to me to use the cards for long term storage. I have some old
CompactFlash cards that read just fine after eight years but like any
media I make sure I have the photos or documents on multiple types of
media including DVD/CD, remote drives, and active hard drives. I wonder
if I should buy the SD cards and leave the photos on them after they are
filled. Perhaps I will do that and check back in 20 - provided I keep
the USB reader and USB is still around.
