consider the application of "bucketed retention periods" to e-mail that 
aggregates content into 3-4 periods and ensures nothing is dispositioned 
too early, but that it also doesn't take a practiced records manager to 
determine how long to keep things. Dependent upon the industry you're in 
and how heavily regulated you are, you might want to establish 4 or 5 
basic buckets for retention.

I've never been a fan of the big bucket approach because you throw 
classification out the window.  Sure it makes it easy for the user to 
store, but classification is one of the backbone components of records 
management.  How do you get around this?
