Jennifer, I am shocked that any I/T group would want to write anything
to film. I advise you to put on your RIM Consultant hat and go talk to
them about media choice.

Data on a RAID system with tape or electronic/redundant (perhaps
offsite) backup is a much better choice.

Best regards, Steve

Will you please post this question to the listserve.

I have a microfilm question so I thought I would come to the experts
for advice. Our IT Department has given me a multi-page tiff image file
containing data from a Unisys database which they would like to write to
microfilm. I ran a test of the file to ensure the images were visible
on the film. Once the film was processed the images/borders on the film
are white however, the text is not visible. I am wondering if anyone
might know why this is and what I could do to resolve the issue.

I have been able to determine the text is renderable so I have
manipulated the file by trying several things; make it darker,
converting it to a pdf, changing the document to have a higher
resolution, converting the document to a pdf and saving to single page
tiff images then combining the tiffs to a pdf and running OCR. One
option that did work is to invert the images however, this only worked
on 35mm microfilm and we would like to get the images on 16mm microfilm
as we obviously can get more images on the roll.

Any and all assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
