All great points Larry.
Personally, it is my opinion that GARP will (or at least has the potential
to), to extend your cruise analogy, finally get us on the invitation list to
the Capitan's Table dinner. If nothing else, GARP provides for a common
language and "lens". It almost makes the argument for us that RIM *is* a
critical business function that *should* be involved in a wide swath of an
organization's decision making to not only impact the expense budget but to
also lessen our risk exposure and positiviely impact our organization's
profitability.
I am so thankful to ARMA and the incredibly smart and dedicated people who
set their sweat and tears to this (hopefully no blood was spilled - beyond
maybe a papercut or two!). I sincerely look forward to the next phases of
implementation and to reflect back a few years from now to see just how far
we've been able to go.
