Laurie Carpenter recommended "... you might want to do some research into things like, what is the average size of your boxes, not what you "think", but based on the statistics. What percentage of your boxes are below or above the standard box size?"

This is an excellent idea, but not always feasible if you're storing records other than "sheets of [letter-size/legal-size] paper in a box".

Records other than "sheets of paper in a box" could include not only odd-sized paper records (e.g., large-format drawings stored flat and ledger books), but also artifacts (objects) defined as records, such as architectural models and criminal evidence.

What then?
