Trudy and others, the software to which you refer--The Simple Records
Manager--is still around. See the URL

Best regards.

Subject: Re: [RM] Paper Tiger
I have had experience with Paper Tiger since it's beginnings. It is not
a
Records Management program. It is a Professional Organizer's attempt at
managing paper, not records. An experienced records management person
would be
very frustrated with it. I have only used it once and that was to
quickly
organize a small companies records they had in their warehouse. It was
a
quick fix that helped the client.
It is really only good for getting small business files, documents and
even boxes listed as to where each is located. It is good with key word
search. It is also good for home based businesses for the same
purpose. It
does have a simplistic field for archiveing date as I recall.
In my opinion, sadly, many professional organizers have used it to
fulfill
records management for companies and both organizer and the companies
think
they have created a records management program.
Sorry to sound negative, but my first look at this back in version 1.0
almost drove me crazy because as an experienced RM it was convoluted.
What ever happened to The Simple Records Manager program?. It was a very
sound simple low cost introductory program for small growing businesses.
Even created barcodes.

I have a client that is using Open Text's eDOCS to manage electronic
Documents and Records for one of their departments.
There has been a suggestion that they adopt Paper Tiger for managing
their
paper Records.
It appears on the surface to manage Documents, but not Records. I
didn't
see
any mention of File Plans, Retention Schedules, etc.
If anyone has any experience with Paper Tiger that they can share, I
would
appreciate hearing from you.
Specifically, I would like to know about:
Implementation costs
Any Records Management functionality that is incorporated in the
product
Customization costs and timelines (small department - 25 - 30 users)
Any other information you can share (Major gotchas, etc.)
Many thanks,
