doesn't twitter use bit.ly links? anyway if individuals are that concerned
about bit.ly links consider using one of the following plug-ins that allow
you to preview the website behind the bit.ly link

for FireFox
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10297

for Chrome
https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/iabeihobmhlgpkcgjiloemdbofjbdcic

as for me I find bit.ly to be very beneficial as it provides me with metrics
as to how many times a link has been accessed, the time/date and the country
from which is was accessed.

I do know that some organizations do block access to bit.ly because of the
country code being Libya, but I seriously doubt that this particular
investor would be involved if there was anything nefarious behind it
http://www.kapor.com/

i'll continue to use bit.ly until something better comes along, if some
choose not to access the link that is there loss not mine

toodles
