I came across an article in the economist that mentioned a chief knowledge officer position, Kim Jong IL (the ruler of North Korea) and the inflationary aspects of having too many chief corporate officers in a single article. In general the author does not think that it's a good idea. Mr.. Kim apparently has more than 1,000 official job titles.
I know many records managers like the idea of having a chief knowledge officer or chief records management officer. In this case the author suggests that title inflation causes similar problems to real world inflation and over time and robs us of our investment in our careers. Some of the comments on this are also quite interesting
