And here's another interesting viewpoint on why the Wave crashed on shore...

http://bit.ly/bMSIcO

I don't think there was any lack of understanding that it was intended as a
collaborative tool and that it was being offered up for free. The issues of
who had access to and where the content was stored (and how it was protected
while being actively shared) were more what was holding business back from
adopting it. As for private users, these types of services have been
available for almost a decade through YAHOO, and many people felt, why change?

Two comments I found interesting:

But at the same time security issues have raised concerns from companies and
employees about what's visible to others.

So while Facebook now boasts more than a half-billion users (even though
everyone who signs up for Facebook doesn't necessarily use it regularly),
very few professionals would dare to communicate work-related information
over the site.

It seems the writer gets it, but then doesn't- he seems to think these other
yet untested services should be thought of as more secure than a social
site- but what was Wave other than a "professional social site" when it came
to how it was rolled out?

Who knows, maybe it was just ahead of its time. In the future, it may be
back in Tsunami proportions!
