Hi all,

Just to add to Viki's post: The document went out for public review 8/6 and the panel presentation on the document took place in Washington, DC as part of SAA DC2010 on 8/14. The conference was a joint venture combining SAA, the Council of State Archivists and the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators.

Although it was a Saturday late morning presentation, about 60 individuals were in the audience, the majority working in archives. The session was scheduled from 11 to 12:30, but we formally closed the session at 12:40 and remained to answer additional questions until about 1:15.

Archivists are interested in understanding records created in social media, the challenges for records managers, and, thus, the impact on the archival process. Four of us were on the panel. In addition to yours truly, the panel consisted of Bill Manago of Autonomy, John Breeden of the Virginia Department of Transportation, and Don Burke the Doyen of Intellipedia for the CIA and currently working on an internal wiki for the Department of Energy.

A brief ppt was prepared. I have not yet posted it to the SAA website but will do so tomorrow. I will gladly share the link. The names of 9 additional project committee members are cited in the PPT. Our team is eagerly awaiting public comment and encourage all of you to download the document from ARMA's standards website and submit your comments. Each and every one will be considered.

Pat

> By the way, we hear from the project leader, Pat Franks, that the presentation on this draft standard at SAA's conference last week was well-attended and went very well.
