Take a look at Carlucci v. Piper Aircraft Corporation, a classic
spoliation case. Remember Piper airplanes? This case pretty much
bought the farm for the company. In that case, a flight test supervisor
ordered a purging of the department's files to eliminate documents that
might be detrimental to Piper in a law suit. Further, it was determined
that the destruction of potentially harmful documents was an ongoing
process.
