Hi Leslie,

One of the reasons I left the library profession to become a full-time RM person is I love the intellectual challenge associated with this profession. The rate of technological change forces us to constantly innovate and create. It is the best of both worlds - I get to use the creative side of my brain and the logical/analytical side of my brain. Every day I come into work and face a new challenge, no two days are the same - at times it is daunting and overwhelming BUT it is never boring.

I get to collaborate with an amazing group of people - IT specialists, Legislation and Compliance Teams, Business Managers, etc, so you are constantly being given the opportunity to learn and contribute. You also get to do a bit of everything from IT/System Admin, Training, Legislative and Policy Analysis, etc. We are on the front lines of the information age, so the profession just keeps evolving and presents multiple and varied employment opportunities.

Subject: Teaching RM

Hello,
I'm putting together a lecture on Records Management for a class of graduate students from our School of Library and Information Science.
I've been jotting down notes but I want to make sure that I touch upon not only the basics, but also the most engaging aspects of RM. This may be the only exposure to RM theories and practices that the students encounter in their graduate program.

So I was wondering what are your favorite, or most exciting parts of your job as a records management professional? What do you think young people should know about the field of RM, and why should they consider a profession in the field of records management?

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Leslie
